体验 Gentoo
linux下防范arp欺骗攻击很早的时候一直用FC作为自己的linux 主系统,因为FC安装起来简单、方便,但是用了一段时间,随着FC的版本号升级,我的 电脑跑起来也越来越吃力,一直想换个其他的linux发行版,比如Debian、Gentoo,但 是因为安装的繁琐,再加上学校的校园网需要运行特殊的程序认证,进行网络安装很麻 烦,所以一直没有换。
后来有机会知道了LFS,从第一次慢慢挂着代理服 务器托软件包,按照book上一步一步build出基本的系统,到后来装上了X、浏览器,变 成了可以用的linux系统,过程中学了不少东西。因为LFS的高度可配置性,所有软件都 是自己亲手编译,速度和稳定性都可以保证,于是决定用LFS作为自己的linux系统,用 了一段时间之后也发现很大的缺点,就是安装软件太累,软件包之间的依赖关系太多, 更新软件也很麻烦,而且要是在一台新机上安装好LFS,再搞到能用,工作量实在是太 大了,于是又有了换的冲动。
这次暑假回家,家里的网络状况非常好,只 要设定好IP和route等基本的参数就可以上网了。选择了半天还是决定安装gentoo,因 为gentoo同样是自己编译,而且有个很好的包管理系统,安装卸载和升级都非常方便, 正合我意~
在看了一个下午的安装手册之后,晚上洗好澡,磨一杯咖啡,关 上门,就开始了gentoo的安装之旅。
放进gentoo的引导光盘,起动后有了 个基本的控制台,值得一提的是gentoo的这个控制台配置的很不错,还有漂亮的图片背 景,一开始我都以为我错把gentoo的liveCD放进去了^^。控制台下的links是个非常不 错的文本浏览器,可以用它来先下好基本的两个包,之后硬盘分区、解压基本系统、解 压portage,之后就可以用emerge来安装全部的软件包了。下载包、编译、安装、下载 包、编译、安装……都是自动的过程,中间的时间我就跑去看电视了^^。装好了基本的 软件就可以emerge自己喜欢的东西了,依赖关系会自动处理,这是最爽的地方了呵呵。
这样说来其实也没有必要用gentoo的引导光盘,只要有个可以起动的linux 系统就可以了,我是从stage3开始安装的,也就是相当于跳过了LFS前面制作工具链的 过程,后面的部分就相当于emerge代替你编译安装软件包。
gentoo和LFS都 是在本地编译安装软件包,不过gentoo最大的优点就是有个emerge,可以自动处理依赖 ,举个例子,同样是安装Xorg,要是在LFS下手动安装,就得下一百多的软件包,每个 都要解开,然后配置、编译、安装,软件包之间还有依赖关系,安装顺序也不能错,确 实是件费事费力的事情,但是再gentoo下,只要运行一句“emerge xorg-x11”,然后 就可以看电视去了^o^,看好电视会来已经装好了~
除此之外还有很大的软 件仓库,更新也很快,需要什么方面的软件,可以在软件仓库里搜索,一般都会找到很 多同类的软件,之后当然是emerge喽~~^^。另外,如果想更新系统上全部的软件包,只 要“emerge --update world”就可以了^^。
装好之后的感觉和LFS无异, 稳定轻快,由于便利的emerge,现在很有安装软件的冲动,^^b。现在已经安装好了很 多软件,可以在gentoo下完成大部分工作了,在LFS下的话,估计还要好几天,毕竟LFS 是拿来学习linux的系统。
总体来说,如果你喜欢LFS,喜欢自己编译软件 ,喜欢自己配置,又不想把时间耽误在无聊的软件包依赖和运行安装配置命令上,那么 gentoo绝对是最好的选择。

近来尝试新软件的冲动己减,更何况是操作系统。读了这篇文章,又燃起兴趣。十一假期倒可以一试。
